Veronica looked expectantly at Grizz,
waiting for him to comment on her statement that she
wanted to be part of the ongoing research at the
Institute. The longer he was silent, the more
uncomfortable she began to feel. "I can be of help, you
know." She defended herself. "I am a very observant
person." She said this as she tripped over the small
crate that was on the floor. Grizz just shook his
head.

Then Grizz's expression changed. He
looked at Veronica.
"There is something you can
do. I mailed an emvelope to the Prof. Very important,
very confidential as yet. I saw it lying on his desk. If
you would go and see Cordelia and make sure that
envelope gets into a safe place until the Prof. can see
it, that would be a big help."
He turned away,
then turned back..."And Veronica? I don't think even you
are aware of just how smart you really are and how much
you could do advance the knowledge the Institution is
seeking. You've changed so much in the time you've been
here. And don't worry, you'll get over that awkward
habit you have of tripping over things that arent'
there. I hope...ummm...well anyway, if you could just
find out about that envelope? It's really
important."

Veronica could not stop smiling no
matter how hard she tried. With renewed confidence, she
went in search of Cordelia, who was still searching for
the Professor. She finally caught up with her during her
third circuit around the neighborhood.
Reaching
out to touch her arm as she passed by, Veronica said,
"Cordelia, Grizz mailed a very important envelope to the
Professor. He wanted to be sure it was put in a safe
place until Thietris can review it. Have you seen it?"
Cordelia, very distracted and anxious said, "No, dear I
have not. Please feel free to go look yourself." With
that, she hurried away to continue her
search.
Veronica walked into the office and began
a thorough search of Thietris's desk. She looked on top,
underneath papers, in the drawers, she even went so far
as to search the trash can. There was nothing at all
from Grizz! However she did find a fascinating account
of the possible connection between the Hopi
Indians and the D'ni civilization. She sat down in
Thietris's chair and began to study the
information.

After Veronica left, Grizz sat at the
counter in a brown study. Somthing was wrong. He could
sense it. He decided that certain precautions were
justified. He took a piece of paper and wrote a note on
it. The note included a surface address. He folded the
note and put it in an envelope. He took a key from his
pocket and put it in the envelope along with the note.
He sealed the envelope, and wrote Veronica's name on it.
Then he put the whole envelope in his
pocket.

Veronica was fascinated by the research.
She had traveled quite extensively all over the world
and most recently, before "The Fall" as she called it,
her father had taken her on an archaeology dig in New
Mexico. This Dr. Elkae was brilliant! Veronica
remembered meeting her the other day and she had treated
her so rudely, now she regretted her actions deeply. "I
wonder if..." She quickly turned over the report and
located the Fed Ex tracking number that was affixed
there and wrote it on a piece of
paper.

Veronica suddenly appeared in the hut on
her Relto. Standing in front of her is Professor
Thietris, with an extremely personal item in one hand
and a bottle of Calvin Klein in the other. All her
clothes are strewn about the floor and hanging over the
edges of the drawers.
"Professor Thietris!
Whatever are you doing on my Relto? More importantly..."
She grabs the personal item and lifts him up as he is
still holding on, "What in the world are you doing with
this?" They stare at each other, eye to eye, for several
awkward moments.

Veronica holds him closer so that they
are nose to nose and says, "I don't believe this was
meant for you." She checks. "You would need..." After
careful consideration she refrains from saying what she
really wanted to
say.
